Control Cabinet Temperature Simulation with Adaptive Cooling Demand and Consumption Calculator

Given the limited time budgets in control cabinet planning, and the necessity for detailed temperature calculations for each cabinet in accordance with DIN EN 61439, the latest update of AirTEMP 2.0 offers a time-saving and practical solution. Additionally, resource-efficient cabinet planning is supported by the new adaptive cooling demand and consumption calculator.

Given the limited time budgets in control cabinet planning, and the necessity for detailed temperature calculations for each cabinet in accordance with DIN EN 61439, the latest update of AirTEMP 2.0 offers a time-saving and practical solution. Additionally, resource-efficient cabinet planning is supported by the new adaptive cooling demand and consumption calculator.

With LÜTZE's online application AirTEMP 2.0, practical temperature calculations for control cabinets can be conducted. This enables quick and easy identification of the most effective measures for demand-based cooling.

By exporting parts lists and geometry data from a project in EPLAN Pro Panel, this data can be directly imported into AirTEMP 2.0. Missing performance data can be easily supplemented in the newly designed component view for a complete calculation. The new cooling demand calculator determines the required cooling performance without additional planning effort. The resulting energy costs and CO2 emissions are calculated based on company-specific user inputs. In real-world applications, control cabinets are also exposed to varying operational and environmental conditions. In the redesigned AirTEMP 2.0 certificate, seasonal and duty cycle-dependent characteristics are now presented more compactly and clearly for users, facilitating the planning process and providing a foundation for demand-oriented thermal design of control cabinets, thus promoting greater sustainability.

For simulations with the revised AirTEMP 2.0, all relevant cabinet parameters are queried in structured steps, including geometries, installation and environmental parameters, as well as all installed components, assemblies, fans, and active cooling technology. By considering the simultaneity factor, the simulation can account for the extent to which components operate simultaneously, release power, and thus increase or, conversely, reduce maximum heat generation.

All cabinet parameters, including the internal cabinet temperature, can be verified as part of a type test according to DIN EN 61439 (Chapter 10.10 | Temperature Limits). With AirTEMP 2.0, simulations can be conducted for both cabinets with AirSTREAM and AirSTREAM Compact wiring frames. Calculations for cabinets with mounting plates are also possible, although with the limitation that a thermal simulation can only be performed with free cooling.
